Forest House Extension

The clients loved the location of the house by Alic Holt Forest but did not love the small rooms and low ceiling heights in the roof space. The house needed a savvy approach because the house had already been extended to the maximum size permissible. In order to create additional floorspace for the house, the clients agreed that they could live without the dilapidated old garage clearly visible from the street. We negotiated new extensions to the roof to create more floor area and a unified and attractive building form.

There was an obvious benefit to removing the existing garage to achieve modest alterations to the main house. As a result, the council conceded that the proposal was in-keeping with the objectives of general countryside policy. Once we had planning permission, the construction of the house went very smoothly.
